Why “A Challenge to Love”?

My meaning and my purpose are twofold:

  1. We are all called to live love. As Christians, we are emphatically commanded to do so. Mark 12:28b-31 (NIV) states:

…he asked him, “of all the commandments, which is the most important?

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

The call is clear, yet we fall so far short. I want to explore that shortcoming and ways to improve, to truly live out The Greatest Commandment.

  2. I was a challenge to love. For a long time. I truly believed I was inherently unlovable. I hated myself and hated and/or feared everyone and everything around me. No one could touch me. No one could get through. I was miserable and dying inside. But here and there, now and then, there were people who would just love on me. They saw the rage and the pain. They felt me push them away. But they loved me anyway. And, as they persisted in loving me, I slowly began to shift and change. Over the course of time, I became loveable. I became a person who loves and is loved.

I know there are many many others who think and feel as I did. My desire is that in sharing my story they may experience hope and healing and become people of love. It is possible for all.

  1. And you went from a challenge to love to a challenge to love. Others are challenged to love because your love and loveability challenges them. <3
